About the Journal

Ifiok Journal is an open-access double-blind peer-reviewed publication of the Department of Philosophy, Akwa Ibom State University, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. It seeks and accepts for publishing original articles and literature reviews in the humanities, social sciences, and education.

Founded in 2014, the Journal has strived over the years and is still striving to become a platform for academic publishing that meets global competence and appeal. It aims to accord its authors widespread readership. That is where this online version derives necessity. While it is presently published once yearly (in July), the vision is to have it published twice yearly (January and July).

The language in which the Journal calls for, accepts and publishes articles is English. Articles are to be written with Times New Roman font, at 12point font size. They are to be double-spaced, except for indented quotations which are to be single-spaced. Citations and documentations are to be done using current edition of the Modern Language Association (MLA) style. And all authors are required to adhere strictly to that.

All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically – as email attachments – using Microsoft Word format. The email address for submission and other correspondences by authors is philosophybookprojects@aksu.edu.ng. Peer-reviewed and accepted papers are published in current volume and issue that they fall. When published, authors are to specially request for print version of the volume with their article before they can have it.

 The Review Process

Manuscripts are first assessed by the editorial board. Those that adjudged appropriate for the journal are sent to two experts in the discipline of their subject matter or content. All reviews are blind. That is, manuscripts are sent to reviewers for assessment without author(s) identity. Then, based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editors are guided on the publishability or non publishability of the articles. In any case, the primary (first or corresponding) author (in the case of multiple authors) is notified of the decision. And a copy of the reviewers’ comments is sent to the author too.
